This project presents the renovation of a house located in the Sant Antoni neighborhood of Barcelona. The apartment is a basement floor where it only has a façade with light input, the rest was dark and poorly ventilated spaces.
The entire project revolves around the concept that the apartment enjoys the lighting and ventilation of the main façade.
The design of the distribution was made in the form of a funnel. In the area closest to the façade we placed a large room with the kitchen, dining room and living room that collects all the natural light. The rest of the rooms are set back allowing light to filter to the end of the apartment.
The rooms and the bathroom have different internal windows to allow natural light to enter with different degrees of privacy. In addition, a large sliding door closes the funnel to be able to divide the apartment in two, depending on the needs of each moment.
The herringbone pavement is a reflection of our intention to mark the direction of light, as if they were waves moving towards the shore.
